Hello Ottawa!

I was born and raised in the lush Annapolis Valley, Nova scotia. At about age 10, I discovered my mothers old Singer sewing machine and her copy of the Joy of Cooking, and there was no looking back. Curiosity was my guide and history was my muse. I always had that strange feeling I was born in the wrong era. I had this drive to learn how things were done the "olden" way , I was definitely born with the " I can do that" gene.... all before the land of Google.

Living in rural Nova Scotia there were plenty of opportunities to learn these handy life skills. My mother taught me to thread her sewing machine and off I went. When I exhausted her (and her skill set) I started reading more books, taking classes and joined 4H. My Dad is the gardener in the family. From that garden came a glut of produce every year. Mom and I always had a hand in canning and preserving those amazing fruits and veggies. Knitting, that was my Grammy's forte. Man she was fast, like, sweater in a few days fast. She taught me a few basics when I was younger but I didn't have the patience then.  When she sadly passed we found a stack of mittens ready to give away. I realized, at that moment,  I wanted my girls to know the joy of a fresh pair of hand knit mittens and started knitting again in my 30's.

Here I am 20 years later living in Ottawa. "The Covid" really solidified how incredibly valuable these life skill are and I'm here to guide you.  Let's make stuff!
